RIP Daddy, 7/15/1928 - 7/30/ 2012

Lots of happenings since my last post... sorry I have ignored this blog for a while, at least the posting part...

I'll not go into detail right now, I need to go to bed soon, should have been there a long time ago, but I'll say that my life has been turned up side down for a bit, my dad passed away on July 30th, it was peaceful and everything after that went fairly smoothly, I was able to be with him when he passed, in fact most of the family and a few friends were present when he passed. It was not unexpected, but it was still difficult to go through. I'm now working on getting back into the rhythm of everyday life. I'll post more about it in the coming days.

RIP Daddy, 7/15/1928 - 7/30/ 2012

  2. So sorry for your loss, Wretha. We lost my Dad August 8, as well. It was not unexpected, but still overwhelming. We keep going because we have do, isn't that right? But don't push, just let it happen as it happens. God's peace be with you.

    1. Thanks Kris, and sorry to hear about your dad, wow you lost your dad on my birthday, was it this year?... it is hard, but it's all OK, everything is going pretty well considering... the hardest part was watching him suffer before he passed. He is home now.

    2. Yes, just about three weeks ago. I wish I knew if he ever turned his life over to the Lord. He talked about it some, but we don't know for sure. We will know some day.....

    3. That's a toughie Kris, I hope your dad did do the right thing. Fortunately I am certain about my dad, he was an old preacher and was faithful until the end. The last few weeks before he passed, I read scripture to him, and we had long discussions about Jesus and forgiveness.

    1. Thanks FCH, yes, time does heal, though I'm not doing too bad, not as bad as I thought I might be... hope that makes sense. :)

  6. I'm so sorry. I lost my father in law in May. It's so, so hard. We try to go back to normal, but there is no more normal. It has to be a new normal now and it's hard and I don't like it. I'll pray for you when I pray tonight.

    1. Thanks Representative, you are so right, it is a new normal, my biggest sadness is I can't just pick up the phone and call him. Everything will be OK though, he raised me right, in church and that gives me something wonderful to hang on to. :)

  8. Sorry to hear of your loss. My Father passed last year. It is hard to grasp the world without them, but there is naught we can do but carry on and shed some of the light that they shared with us, with others.

  10. I am sorry to here about your Dad. I lost my Dad in 2003 he was also a preacher, he came home after Sunday church service and he laid down on the couch and had a heart attack. He was alone and 6 feet from his phone. That was the hardest thing I couldn't get over for so long. Life is hard sometimes, but a smile can help :).

    1. Thanks Lauraly, I worried about my dad dying by himself, when this last episode happened, I had called him and when he answered the phone, he couldn't speak, all he could do was squeak, I didn't know what was wrong with him, I thought he had had a stroke, and he was home alone, he had been napping and didn't know what was going on. I called my sister who had just left him less than an hour before. Turned out it was not a stroke, but it was the beginning of the end for him. I believe if I hadn't called him when I did, he would have died that evening, at home, alone. I am so glad I was able to be with him when he passed. I'm sorry you didn't get that opportunity, but you must have faith that he is in Heaven, being a preacher (not saying ALL preachers are perfect... but hopefully they have a good relationship with Jesus), that should make it easier to deal with. :)
