Podcast-Who's Looking At You Kid

You can listen here, click below:

To listen to all podcasts go here:
http://offgrid.mypodcast.com/index.html,

This episode is about privacy, specifically internet privacy.

I am discussing something near and dear to my heart, staying safe on the internet, whether you are a surfer or a blogger, there are things you can do to stay safe. My ADD is showing at the end, LOL, oh and the truck I saw on my road, it turns out it was a friend looking for Primitive Bob, this friend was driving a borrowed truck which is why I didn't recognize it.

I hope you enjoy the music, I realize music tastes are very much an individual thing, so I kept the intro short and sweet, if you don't like it, then you don't have to listen to much, if you do like it, I play the entire song at the end, listen to it if you like it, or you can cut it off after I stop talking. :)

I musical tastes are varied and sometimes obscure, so hang on to your headphones, you may be in for an interesting ride here.

Hope you enjoy the show, I love comments so leave lots of them, let me know what you want to hear on future shows.

It's All Mayberry's Fault

I blame Mayberry, it's all his fault. Now with that out of the way, here's what's happened. I found Mayberry's podcast site, I listened to his first podcast, it sounded pretty good, this is something I have considered doing for a while now, but wanted to find a free site to host the files, thanks to Mayberry for doing the legwork and finding a great site, I have officially started podcasting now. You can find my first podcast here: http://offgrid.mypodcast.com/index.html

You can listen here:

To listen to all podcasts go here:
http://offgrid.mypodcast.com/index.html

Go there, if you want to, listen to my first podcast, it's pretty short, 10 minutes long, I would appreciate any critiques, I'll try not to breathe on the mic in the future, it's something I know happens and I dislike hearing it too, though that's not too bad. I would like some input as to the volume, is it too loud? Not loud enough? Or just right? I'm using a new USB headset/microphone set, so I'm still tweaking the settings. If you want to hear more podcasts from me, leave comments with questions and/or themes for future shows. I can't guarantee that I will do regular shows, just like this blog, I'll do more podcasts as the inspiration hits me.

I will also try to get PB to participate in future shows, he likes to talk, he is a much more natural talker than I am, we can do some shows together and that will be fun. So, give me some ideas about what you want me to talk about, ask questions, give me some feedback. Thanks everyone!

Oh, another thing, Mayberry and anyone else who decided to try podcasting through this site, it's possible to change the look of your podcast page, I was able to add some extra stuff on my page, change the look, colors, backgrounds, width and such of the generic page, if anyone wants help doing this, just holler, I'll be glad to assist. One thing that I found you can't add is Google Ads, they already have a Google Ad on the top of the page, since it's a free service, that's a fair exchange, but I found that you can add Amazon links, so if you are an Amazon affiliate, it's easy to add Amazon links. Again, just holler if you need help.

Proposed 28th Amendment to the United States Constitution

Warning, politics ahead, including libertarian leaning opinions, mine.

I don't usually post political things, though it seems that I'm starting to say that more and more LOL, the truth is the more our illustrious leaders (TPTB) try to shove things down our throats, for the good of the people of course, the more I have to say about what is going on. Why can't they just leave us alone? Specifically the socialized health care they want to force everyone to participate in, choosing not to participate makes us criminals, the reason, they say is everyone has to pay in order to make it financially possible to cover everyone. I call BS, did you know that all congress members, even if they only serve one term, get paid for the rest of their life and get free healthcare plus all of the other perks they have? So, how about cutting that out, pay them for the job they do while they do it, uh, just like the rest of us do? Make them have to save for their own retirement and rely on Social Security and Medicare. TPTB say that they want equality for everyone, how about including themselves in that so called equality? How much money would that save? I'd bet that would go pretty far in covering the poor, uninsured and under insured.

Here's another thing, I received a jury duty summons last month, it said that there were certain things that would exempt a potential jury member, one of those was if you were a member of congress or employed by congress. So, that seems to be another perk, no jury duty.

What prompted this rant you ask? I received an interesting email from a friend, this is what it had to say:

Proposed 28th Amendment to the United States  Constitution,
For too long we have been too complacent about the workings of Congress. Many citizens had no idea that Congress members could retire with the same pay after only one term, that they didn't pay into Social Security, that they specifically exempted themselves from many of the laws they have passed (such as being exempt from any fear of prosecution for sexual harassment) while ordinary citizens must live under those laws. The latest is to exempt themselves from the Healthcare Reform that is being considered...in all of its' forms. Somehow, that doesn't seem logical. We do not have an elite that is above the law. I truly don't care if they are Democrat, Republican, Independent or whatever. The self-serving must stop. This is a good way to do that. It is an idea whose time has come.

Proposed 28th Amendment to the United States  Constitution,:

"Congress shall make no law that  applies to the citizens of the United States that does not apply equally to  the Senators and Representatives; and, Congress shall make no law that applies  to the Senators and Representatives that does not apply equally to the  citizens of the United States ."

If each person who receives/reads this contacts a minimum of Twenty people on their Address list, and in turn asks each of those to do likewise in three days, all of the people in US should have received the Message.  This is one proposal that really should be passed around.

What do you think? Sounds pretty good to me. :) Uncle Big Bro, keep your nose and fingers out of my business and pocketbook!

Another thing I saw on TV today, on Fox news, they were talking about our government's concern about militias, they want to lump together patriot movement, the Oath Keepers with so called right wing loons, anarchists and such, they were showing videos of people in military garb shooting at targets, Bill O'Reily was interviewing someone who kept referring to these people as radical right wing, tin foil hat wearing, conspiracy theorist who believe these "conspiracies" such as prison camps for the US citizens, our gov bringing in non-US military to control the masses, martial law being right around the corner. It seems to me that TPTB are campaigning big time against anyone who belongs to a group that might rise up against them when the time comes. Bill O'Riley said he was going to invite someone from the Oath Keepers to be on his show tomorrow, Thurs, Feb 18, for an interview, it just might be interesting.

I wonder how many alphabet gov agencies will visit my blog because of this post? I still get them, just not as often, that might change now. Before anyone posts a comment about me being paranoid or thinking TPTB are spying on me, no they aren't "spying", they visit in plain open sight, they don't hide. I am completely aware of the fact that if "they" really wanted to spy on me, without my knowledge, they are more than capable of doing it. My theory is that "they" want me to see them, it's a form of intimidation, sorta like the mall cop that follows you through the store, standing close to you without actually doing or saying anything to you, it's just for the intimidation factor. I am truly sorry if I offended any mall cops. LOL.

One more thing, while on the political soapbox, there seems to be a lot of talk in political circles about the budget, it's simple actually, in each and every American home, people have to decide how much to spend and on what, if you choose to blow your money, then you might not have enough left over to pay bills, if you are getting in over your head in debt, then STOP SPENDING MONEY, spending more money when you are drowning in debt is insanity. So, to TPTB, stop spending more money, cut back on what is being spent now, stop with the tax and spend already, it's NOT WORKING nor is it the right thing to do.

End of political ranting, for now.

This Is Sooooo True!

Thank GOD I am one of those kids, born in '65, I missed the '60s and the hippie era even though I was born smack in the middle of it, by the time I realized what it was all about it was over, but I still feel a kinship and nostalgia for the "good old days". Thanks to a good friend who sent this to me today, I can think back and remember my childhood and all the fun I had growing up.

TO ALL THE KIDS WHO SURVIVED THE
1930's, 40's, 50's,
60's and 70's!!

First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they were pregnant.

They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can and didn't get tested for diabetes.

Then after that trauma, we were put to sleep on our tummies in baby cribs covered
With bright colored lead-base paints.....

We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, locks on doors or cabinets and
when we rode our bikes,
We had baseball caps
Not helmets on our heads..

As infants & children, we would ride in cars with no car seats, no booster seats, no seat belts, no air bags, bald tires and sometimes no brakes.

Riding in the back of a pick- up truck on a warm day was always a special treat.

We drank water from the garden hose and
not from a bottle.

We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and no one actually died from this.

We ate cupcakes, white bread, real butter and bacon. We drank Kool-Aid made with real white sugar. And, we weren't overweight...
WHY?
Because we were always outside playing...
that's why!

We would leave home in the morning and play
all day, as long as we were back when the
streetlights came on..

No one was able to reach us all day.
And, we were OKAY.

We would spend hours building our go-carts
out of scraps and then ride them down the hill,
Only to find out we forgot the brakes.
After running into the bushes a few times,
we learned to solve the problem.

We did not have Play stations, Nintendo's and X-boxes. There were no video games, no 150 channels on cable, no video movies or DVD's,
No surround-sound or CD's,
No cell phones,
No personal computers,
No Internet and no chat rooms...

WE HAD FRIENDS
and we went outside and found them!

We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no lawsuits from these accidents.

We would get spankings with wooden spoons, switches, ping pong paddles, or just a bare hand and no one would call child services to report abuse.

We ate worms and mud pies
Made from dirt, and
The worms did not live in us forever.

We were given BB guns for our 10th birthdays, made up games with sticks and tennis balls and, although we were told it would happen,
we did not put out very many eyes..

We rode bikes or walked to a friend's house
and knocked on the door or rang the bell,
or just walked in and talked to them.

 Little League had tryouts and
not everyone made the team.
Those who didn't had to learn
To deal with disappointment.
Imagine that!!

The idea of a parent bailing us out if
we broke the law was unheard of.
They actually sided with the law!

These generations have produced some of the best
Risk-takers, problem solvers and inventors ever.

The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas.
We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned how to deal with it all...

If YOU are one of them, CONGRATULATIONS!

You might want to share this with others who have had the luck to grow up as kids, before the lawyers and the government regulated so much of our lives for our own good.

While you are at it, forward it to your kids so they will know how brave and lucky their parents were.

Kind of makes you want to run through the house with scissors, doesn't it ?

~
The quote of the month is by
Jay Leno:

'With hurricanes, tornado's, fires out of control, mud slides, flooding, severe thunderstorms tearing up the country from one end to another, and with the threat of bird flu and terrorist attacks, are we sure this is a good time to take God out of the Pledge of Allegiance?'

For those that prefer to think that God is not watching over us...go ahead and ignore this.
For the rest of us...pass this on....

So, what are your favorite childhood memories? Preferably the ones that would be considered not PC and would (probably) get your parents arrested for child abuse/neglect today? LOL.

For me, it's licking the bowl of raw cake batter when my mom was making a cake, raw eggs, real butter, whole milk, real sugar and all!

Green Police are not in your head any more...

Don't know how long this YouTube video will remain, it's on Drudge report so it is probably getting blasted, but here it is, I think I'm going to download it now, just in case it vanishes from YouTube:

I find this so disturbing, and the really sad part is this is becoming reality, I sincerely hope I'm wrong, but this is what TPTB would like to see happen. I don't even see this as a political thing, it's a power, control and money thing, we the people are slowly giving up our rights in the name of "green" and being politically correct, and in the name of so called security.

I think Audi screwed up on this one, not only is the whole commercial disturbing, just think about how much money they spent/wasted to play this during the Super Bowl. I have to say that I wasn't too impressed with the Super Bowl ads this time, not that I was watching all that carefully, I was mostly knitting and eating pizza at a friend's house. Maybe I'll look up all the ads and check them out on line, a good one probably slipped past me.

Free Offer Still Available!

I messed up, yup I can admit it when it happens... LOL, I thought that nearly free supplements offer ended Saturday night, it turns out that it ends Sunday night at midnight, that's tonight, so if you didn't get a chance to take advantage, you still have time! Check it out!

http://wretha.blogspot.com/2010/02/fwd-just-my-way-of-saying-thanks.html

You see, the problem is I rarely know with any certainty what day of the week it is, don't even ask me for the date, and no, I generally don't know the exact time either, we have a name for that phenomena, it's called Mountain time, everything happens on Mountain time, it's a disease that occurs after you have lived here for a while, it creeps up on you, slowly robbing you of your ability to determine anything related to time. That's my excuse. LOL.

How To Embed YouTube Videos

Writing a blog is fun, adding pictures is even more fun, adding videos is like a party on your screen. Blogger makes it easy to add pictures, but it's not so cut and dry to add a video. I see a lot of blogs that use links to videos instead of embedding the video on their blog, why send your readers away when you can make the video play directly from your site? Fortunately YouTube makes it very simple. Here's what you do. First pick out the video you wish to add from YouTube, next you look just to the right of the YouTube video (below any advertisement they may have there), you will see this,

See where it says "Embed"? This is what we want, now click on the icon just to the right of the embeded text, this will open up an options box, here you can decide how you want the video to look on your site. Your options are, Include related videos, Show border and Enable privacy-enhanced mode.
You can choose whether or not this video, while on your site will show related videos, show border is just that, it shows the border if checked, I usually leave it unchecked, the third option determines if and when a cookie gets set on your viewer's computer. It's up to you if you want to choose this or not.

Your second set of options is the color scheme, I usually leave it on the first option, but if you want to color coordinate it you can choose another color.

The final option is the size of the player screen, I usually choose the second one, though it's up to you what size you want the player to be. Just remember, you should make it fit your blog, if the player is larger (wider) than the text area of your blog, it will overlap into your sidebar and will look amateurish.

Once you have these options picked out, put your cursor on the text to the right of the embed text, this will highlight the text, then press "ctrl c" on your keyboard, this will copy the code.

At this point I assume you will have started your blog post, if not, do so now. Go ahead and write whatever it is you want to write about. Now, look to the upper right of the text box where you are writing, see the tab that says "Edit HTML"? Click on that, once it is opened, you will see what you have been writing, but things may look a bit different, you will see some HTML code along with what you have been writing. Don't worry about it, just scroll down to where you have finished writing, put your cursor on the screen and click, now using your keyboard, press "ctrl v", this will paste the code from the YouTube page that you previously copied, if it doesn't work, don't worry, just go back to your YouTube video and copy the code next to the word "embed" by highlighting it and pressing "ctrl c" on your keyboard, go back to your blog post, be sure you are in the "Edit HTML" tab. click your cursor on the screen where you want to embed your video and press "ctrl v" to paste the code. Now on the upper right of the screen, press "Compose", now you will see a gray box that will have the word "object" written inside. This is where your video will appear within the text of your post, you can move it if you want, you can also make it left, right or center aligned, just double click on the gray box and choose the appropriate alignment tab on the toolbar above.

For those who like playing with the code, you can customize your player even further than the options allowed on YouTube. For instance, here is a copy of the code, you can edit the width and height to suit your needs, notice that the width and height are in 2 different places in the code, be sure to change it in both places, make it match by making the width on both places the same, and make the height on both places the same. You also want to make proportional changes, if you change the width by 10% then you need to change the height by the same percentage otherwise your video may look strange. You can also double click on the gray box, grab one corner (your cursor will change into a double ended arrow) and drag the video to whatever size you want, hold the "crtl" button as you do it and the size change will remain proportional.

This one has the border enabled, along with the colors chosen, you can change the border colors to something besides what YouTube offers, you will need to know the hexadecimal code for the colors you want, it's not as hard as it sounds, here is a great link with the hex colors you can choose from, click here.

The highlighted part of the code is what you want to play with, ignore the 0x in front of each one, you only need to be concerned with the 6 number and letter code that comes after, this is computer-speak for the colors in the border of your YouTube video on your site. Notice there are 4 places where this code appears, note that the first and third are the same, and the second and fourth are the same, when you change the first one, be sure to make the first and third match, do the same for the second and fourth, they need to be the same. Make these changes in the "Edit HTML" tab, delete the original 6 digit hex color and type in the one you want to replace it with, be sure to do it in both places to match.

Play with it, have fun, embed videos until your heart's content. Enjoy!

I just received this in my email today, it's a time sensitive offer, this looks like a great deal so I'm passing it on to you, I get nothing from it.

This link takes you to a page that has an offer for an almost free bottle of your choice of a great supplement, the reason I don't say it's free is because you do have to pay for S&H, but that's only $7.95 if you live in the USA, it's a bit higher for those beyond the border.  I chose the oral chelation, it's normally about $30.00.

You can choose from:

BreatheFree™ Nasal Wash
Advanced D3 Plus

DIM (promotes healthy hormone balance)

Any of these would run from $30 to $40 each, plus S&H. Jump on this now if you are interested, the offer ends at midnight tonight. I'll delete this tomorrow
