Preppers In The Paper

We do live in extreme times and it seems to be getting worse. Today I received an email contained a link to a Fort Worth (Texas) newspaper, they wrote an article about modern day survivalists, it included a blurb about Bruce Hopkins, the owner of http://www.internet-grocer.net/. Of course the article contained more, and I am conflicted about its contents...

  1. I only found your site about two months ago. It seems you have made a lot of changes since I first looked at it. It is really looking good to me. The ads in the right hand column are fine. You are putting in a lot of time to put up this site; I hope you can make a few dollars off of it too. Good Luck!

  2. Hey Wretha, I too have conflicting thoughts on the article. It's a good article but it has some sides to it I thought should have been presented differently. The whole thing made me feel a little bit uncomfortable...

  3. Randy Dunlap, Texas, Thanks for leaving such a great comment! The ads I have on the site are hand picked (except for the Google ads, and they are generally on target too). I'm glad you appreciate and understand how much time does go into this and all of my other blogs. This blog is and will always remain free for anyone to read so the ads are the only way I get any sort of compensation (I am NOT asking anyone to click on the Google ads just to try to help me make money, click on the ads if you truly have an interest in it).

I do get a warm feeling whenever I see that someone has taken the time to show interest in what I advertise here, now if I could just convince people to actually buy something (grin!)

mmpaints, thanks for your comment, actually I'm pretty happy with the general tone of the story, for a main stream newspaper, the article is fairly balanced, I just wished the people in the story could have gotten a little more consideration from the paper, ie not printing their full names, where they live and work... oh well, it's a start.

  4. I am impressed! I secretly want to get out of town and live off the grid, too. That would be the life... Especially with how ridiculous things are getting out there! So how do you manage electricity and internet to blog if you're off the grid?

  5. preparednesspro, thanks for reading and commenting on this blog. :) How do we manage? Very well I might say. We generate our own electricity using solar panels, we store the electricity in deep cycle batteries, and use it as we need/want it. I have lights, a laptop, a radio and a small, cube (dorm sized) refrigerator. We can run all of those things off what we have now. I have wifi internet access, the tower is right across the valley from me. I suppose this wouldn't be for everybody, but we like it just fine. :)
